Director – Medicinal Cannabis Section, Office of Drug Control, Australian Government Department of Health
Danielle Chifley is the Director of the Medicinal Cannabis Section in the Office of Drug Control, which regulates medicinal cannabis nationally under the Narcotic Drugs Act 1967 and in accordance with relevant international treaties. The Medicinal Cannabis Section is focused on regulating entities licensed to undertake activities in connection with medicinal cannabis, including by compliance monitoring and enforcement.
In 2019, Danielle led the Secretariat supporting an independent Review of the Narcotic Drugs Act 1967. In her current position, she is now working to deliver its recommendations and related legislative and administrative reforms.
